After opening our Molins Horror Film Festival, La Madriguera (The writer’s burrow), by Kurro González, produced by 32 Historias and filmed in Almería, will premier tomorrow the 2nd of December at some Spanish movie theatres.
The director Kurro González makes his debut in European feature films with La Madriguera (The writer’s burrow). It was a privilege and an honor to have the film’s European premier at our Festival’s opening. For 90 minutes the public got to enjoy this psychological thriller that finished with an ovation for the movie and for its team members, present at the screening. Also, La Madriguera collected great opinions by the press.
“Noting is black or white in this suspense psycho-thriller the argumental duality of which absorves us and that has characters and their internal fears as the main subject along with a claustrophobic environment less isolated than usual in the genre. This is achieved through a reduced but inspired cast that delights us with magnificent performances shaping the main confrontation with an intensity that crosses the screen. The script, the director and even the actors create the pieces of this psychological puzzle that the spectator must decide how to assemble thus generating a debate after the ending of the film around humanity and morality..” – Cine de patio.
We could say that this entirely from Almería has started its journey around Spain, and Europe, on the right food. The plot, as explained by the director, is inspired on actual facts. Se we have as main character Carlos, a successful writer that after a traumatic event looses the willing to write and shuts down at home. The editorial business urges him to fulfill his contract and his editor decides to send him Caterina, a young assistant that admires his work. Her presence puts Carlos on his feet again forcing him to make real efforts to overcome the fears paralyzing him. That is when Carlos seems to understand that Caterina is his only chance to finish his novel, and he will not let her go away by any means.
But the fil did not only succeed in Barcelona. La Madriguera could also enjoy, recently, of a great reception at its own land: Almería. Opening the XV Festival Internacional de cine de Almería, celebrated from the 13th to the 19th of November, where the Diputación de Almería stated its huge satisfaction for the making of the film of such importance on its soil. That demonstrated the Almería is worth not only for small sequences but also for filming entire feature films. Besides, La Madriguera has been selected as a nominee for the Goya Awards in its next edition.
