Since 2009, more than 4,000 secondary school students from different towns of the Baix Llobregat area have been able to enjoy special short film sessions for their schools. It is one of the most interesting sections of the Festival because of its educational dimension. Additionally, with their visit, students are given a good chance to live a great experience.
GORE AND HORROR SHORT STORY CONTEST
In cooperation with the local library Biblioteca Pau Vila, the Festival organizes a gore and horror short story contest, Concurs de Micro-relats de Terror i Gore, with a big amount of participants and a high quality level. The connection between literature and genre cinema for almost ten years has become a distinctive feature of the Festival’s philosophy.
ROUND TABLE ABOUT CINEMA AND PHOBIAS
Round table at La Peni from Molins de Rei on Thursday the 12th of november at 7pm with Tomás Fernádez Valentí (writer and cinema critic) and Doctor Bernat-Noël Tiffon Nonis (forensic psychologist) moderated by Albert Galera.
Presentation of the book “Cine Fantástico y Terror Español”, compilation that analyses the 1912-1983 period, co-written by Albert Galera, our Festival Art Director. Presentation will take place at 08:30pm the 11th of November at Biblioteca Pau Vila.
TRIBUTE TO REPULSION (Roman Polanski)
Concerning this year’s leitmotif retrospectives of “Repulsion” have been scheduled. The film celebrates its 50 years and has been an inspiration for this year’s Festival Official Poster created by Maite Pascual. This anniversary will give cause for a dinner-paper about Polanski and for a screening of the film from Chirstian Aguilera on Tuesday the 10th of November at 21h. Another retrospective around phobias will be “Les yeux sans visage” (Georges Franju, 1960), which will be screened on Wednesday the 11th of November at 5pm. A round table focused on phobias will be also scheduled with the forensic psychologist Bernat-Noël Tiffon and the film critic Tomás Fernández Valentí. It will take place on Thursday the 12 of November at 7pm.
HORROR SHORT FILMS SESSIONS FOR CHILDREN
One of this year’s new events is a screening for children scheduled for the first time in this Festival’s edition with 3 short films and a medium-length film (Peter and the wolf – Suzie Templeton 2006, la Détente – Bertrand Bey & Pierre Ducos, 2011, Morning Stroll – Grant Orchard, 2011). The screening is planned for children from 6 to 12 years old and is absolutely free. It will take place the evening of the 7th of November at the Sala Gotica of Molins de Rei.
FNAC FESTIVAL PRESENTATION
One more year, FNAC El Triangle will welcome the Official 34th Festival Edition presentation. It will take place the 29th of October and it will include a screening of the winner short films of the previous edition at 7pm (Ghost Train, Tin & Tina i Tuck Me In) and the presentation to the media.
SHORT FILMS AT MULEI
On Friday 23rd of October at 10pm we will be screening short films at the Ateneu Mulei of Molins de Rei (Carrer Ponent, nº 15). It will include a selection of short films from 2014 along with some frek short films courtesy of Festivals Fascurt from Masnou and Fantosfreak from Cerdanyola del Vallès.
