The festival brings down the curtain on its 44th edition with more than 10,000 attendees and an overall increase of 71% in revenue, consolidating the continued growth of recent years.
The festival reaffirms its commitment to horror in Catalan with the first edition of the Award for the production of a short film in Catalan, an initiative that provides €5,000 to the winning project, which will premiere at TerrorMolins 2026.
Gaua, New Group and Flush, recognized with the Audience Awards in the different Feature Film sections. The Awards for the Horror Micro-Stories and #20sTerrorMolins competitions have also been announced.

Molins de Rei, November 19, 2025 — The Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival closes its 44th edition with figures that confirm sustained growth of the contest in recent years. More than 10,000 spectators in person have passed through the main venues of the festival, from the Teatre de La Peni to the Ca n'Ametller exhibition hall or the El Molí Library. The collection has experienced a increase of 7% compared to the previous year, and the occupancy of all sessions has surpassed the records of 2024, which had already been the highest in the festival's history. Session after session, titles like Dysphoria, Gaua, Together, The Long Walk (La larga marcha) and the traditional 12-hour horror marathon they have hung the poster of sold out, consolidating the festival as a space of enthusiasm, community and passion for genre cinema.
In addition to in-person attendees, the festival maintains its presence online with the 3Cat collection, which remains available throughout the year. Several short films and a feature-length horror film in Catalan have been added this year, expanding a catalog that combines new releases and films from past editions. This channel, created in collaboration with 3Cat, is consolidating itself as a reference point for horror cinema in Catalan, accessible all year round beyond the festival dates.
In parallel, TerrorMolins reaffirms its commitment to the creation and production of genre films in Catalan with the first edition of the Award for the production of a horror short film in Catalan. This year, eight finalist projects they presented their pitching in front of the jury, and the winning project was Cockroach, written and directed by Adriana Galicia. The short film will receive a grant of €5,000 for its production and we can see it premiered at TerrorMolins 2026, thus consolidating the festival as a platform that promotes new talents and original projects within the genre.
The leitmotif of this edition has been the J-Horror, the common thread of several sessions. The success of the audience, the consolidation of new proposals and the increase in revenue confirm that the TerrorMolins continues to grow and remain one of the benchmark events for horror cinema at a national level.
Audience awards. The Audience Award for Best Film is perfectly aligned with the vision of the official jury, as it has also ended up in Gaua, of Paul Urquijo, which had already won the awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Special Effects and Makeup in the Official Feature Film Section.
In the Being Different Section, the public has awarded New Group, of Yuta Shimotsu, which thus adds new recognition after having been distinguished by the jury with the Best Screenplay Award. As for Bloody Madness, the public has decided to award Flush, of Gregory Morin, a film that the official jury had already celebrated with the awards for Best Film and Best Performance for Jonathan Lambert.
Other awards. The TerrorMolins micro-story contest once again demonstrates the power of the genre in a very short format: The Institutes Award it has been for Perfume, of Patricia Livania Miranda Vega (Valdemoro, Madrid), while in the Catalan category the main award went to Don't let them pass you by., of Josep Raventós Rebulà (Molins de Rei), and the’Catalan Second Prize it has been for Post-it, of Mireia Aldabo Perez (Lleida). In Spanish, the Spanish Award has been granted to Hypnosis, of Julian Sanchez Caramazana (Barcelona), with a Second place for Eternity, of Raul Clavero Blazquez (Madrid). The jury also recognized the quality and originality of the finalist stories: The other voice, by Ferran d'Armengol i Galceran; Food delivery, by Sonia Marín Ruiz; Doctor Garriga's family, by IL Escudero; Torture, by Alejandro Schnarch Kirberg; i Nuances, by Ana Maria Abad Garcia.
As for the contest #20sTerrorMolins, which celebrates its 10th edition this year, has experienced one of the most outstanding participations in recent years, with 56 microshorts received between TikTok and Instagram. The main prize of the Category Leitmotiv / J-Horror it has been for Internal Memory, of Jose Luis Ramirez i David Vilaplana (@dioxmayafoto), a piece that the jury recognized for its groundbreaking idea, impeccable staging and visual strength that, in just 20 seconds, demonstrates that the format remains more alive than ever. The same short also won the award at the special category Viral, while the Special mentions from the jury they have been for LIVE, of Jose Gonzalez (@sky.portalatino), and Cu-Cu, of Toni Lopez (@antuanpanteras). The Mention of Young Horror has fallen into Missed Video Call (@artesescenicasiesohoyos), from IESO Valles de Gata, and in the AI category, the winning proposal was PROMPT: The girl does not survive, also from Jose Luis Ramirez (@dioxmayafoto), distinguished by her intelligent use of technology and the irony with which she laughs at herself. The Mention Terror Kids it is for The ghostly killer will sleep with you, of’Ariadna A., Eulalia C. i Charlotte L. (@nenivelardo73).
