From the zombie survival of 'Colony' and the supernatural horror of 'Leviticus' to the queer slasher 'Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma': the festival reveals a first selection of 19 titles marked by big names, cult titles and the genre's boldest looks.
Axel Almirón signs the new image of the festival with a visual proposal anchored in the analog aesthetics of found footage and the mystery of VHS tapes.
The Angoixa Award doubles its endowment to €10,000 to promote horror in Catalan thanks to the alliance with ALDA Productions.

The Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival 2026 presents the official image of its 45th edition and one first preview of the programming this year. With the leitmotif of found footage as its central theme, the poster pays homage to analog aesthetics and cursed recordings through a piece signed by Axel Almiron. Likewise, the festival reveals a first taste of 19 titles which certify the vitality of the genre on an international scale, since the return of great masters such as Yeon Sang-ho to the commitment to new queer perspectives, urban horror and the most daring cinematographies from around the world, in addition to reaffirming the commitment to the local horror film industry with important new developments in the Anguish Award to the development of short films in Catalan.
Press the Play of terror.
The poster for this edition takes as its central theme the leitmotif of the festival for paying homage to found footage and its unique ability to transform an everyday recording into a deeply disturbing experience. Through VHS tapes, the presence of the camera and a deliberately analog aesthetic, the image plays with the feeling of being in front of found material; a recording that perhaps should never have been discovered. The piece functions as a direct invitation to look, but also releases the latent suspicion that perhaps it would have been better not to…
The author of this image is Axel Almiron, Uruguayan graphic designer based in Spain and specialized in the creation of posters for national and international cinema, as well as in conceptual design. Almirón always seeks to develop his own visual identity capable of conveying the atmosphere and narrative of each work, a talent that he has recently demonstrated in the posters of genre films of international relevance such as Arcadian (Ben Brewer), Locked (David Yarovesky) or Witchboard (Chuck Russell).
First taste of TerrorMolins 2026.
Among the most outstanding proposals in this first batch of titles we find the return of key figures in modern horror, such as the South Korean master Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan), which presents Colony, a new and adrenaline-pumping zombie survival race premiered at the Midnight Screenings of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. Likewise, the festival is strongly committed to new perspectives queer by the hand of Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow) with Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, one slasher satirical film awarded the Queer Palm at Cannes starring Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) and Hannah Einbinder (Hacks); the Australian's debut Adrian Chiarella, Leviticus, one coming of age supernatural produced by the team of Talk to Me and co-starring Mia Wasikowska; and the Danish No Rest for the Wicked, of Kasper Kalle with Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), a suggestive Gothic vampirism film.
The survival wilder will have an unavoidable appointment with River, debut of Joshua Giuliano with Jane Levy (Infernal possession) and Jessica Rothe (Happy death day), awarded at the Fantasia International Film Festival. Close this first block Crawlers, the Spanish filmmaker's North American foray Angel Gomez Hernandez (Voices), a very intense monster movie of exotic spiders not suitable for arachnophobics.
This selection is complemented by a strong presence of the best survival and American urban terror: the festival will screen The Cycle, of Jordan Downey (The Head Hunter), one thriller supernatural crime drama starring Deborah Ann Woll; Recluse, the gothic horror of Henry Chaisson presented at the Tribeca Festival; and the premiere of the disturbing body horror Goody Goody, debut of Raymond Creamer with Samantha Robinson (The Love Witch). From France comes No Way Down (Kraken), of Mohamed Chabane i Theo Jourdain Rhodes, a debut full of energy that combines urban horror and social cinema.
The dialogue between gangster comedy and historical horror will also have its place in the program. On the one hand, the festival will feature the mockumentary I Love Paris, debut of Nicky Murphy awarded the Gold Audience Award at the Fantasia IFF. On the other hand, the Spanish production Upiro, signed by Oscar Martin (Friend) and starring Diego Anido (The beasts) and Maria Galiana (Solas, Belle Epoque), will provide a fascinating look at period vampire horror.
Finally, Asian cinema and the new geographies of horror folk again have a decisive weight in this edition. The Japanese Never After Dark, of Dave Boyle (Audience Award at SXSW) with Moeka Hoshi (Shogun), and criminal suspense Nameless, of Hideo Jojo, lead an oriental representation that is reinforced by the power of Indonesian cinema: prison terror Ghost in a Cell from Joko Anwar, labor criticism Sleep No More of’Edwin (Best Fantasy Screenplay IFF) and the witchcraft of Janur Ireng, of Kimo Stamboel. This tasting is completed by the Italian Orpheus, surrealist debut of Virgilio Villoresi selected at the Biennale di Venezia, and the hooligan return from New Zealand of Jonathan King with Black Sheep, where he recovers his carnivorous sheep twenty years later, following the best tradition of comedy gore New Zealander.
