The Festival opens its 43rd edition dedicated to rural terror with the suffocating debut film by young French filmmaker Abel Danan and the Catalan short film 'A Day in the Countryside', presented by its director, Albert Portal.
The weekend will begin with the screening of the classic 'Who Can Kill a Child?', followed by a round table with Jordi Sánchez Navarro, Desirée de Fez and Jaume Balagueró.
On Saturday afternoon, short films will fill La Peni with the Catalan production section Ç-Trencada and two Official Section sessions that reaffirmed their success with the public.
Sunday will be the turn of the children's section TerrorKids and three of the most anticipated films of the competition will be screened, including 'The Substance', which has sold out all tickets.

The Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival opened its 43rd edition this evening, dedicated this time to Rural Horror on the 50th anniversary of the premiere of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Teatre de La Peni has hosted the premiere in Spain of The Damned, the debut of young French director Abel Danan about a young woman who begins to suffer strange hallucinations after moving into a sinister Parisian apartment. Prior to the screening of The Damned, the festival team and the mayor of Molins de Rei, Xavi Paz, welcomed the audience. Afterwards, Paco Ruiz, director, together with actors Júlia Lara and Dani Andreu, presented the official spot for TerrorMolins 2024, and Albert Portal presented his short film A day in the field.
The geography of terror.The TerrorMolins weekend begins with the screening of the classic Who wants to kill a child?, by Narciso Ibáñez Serrador, followed by the round table “The landscapes of our fears: a geography of gender in Catalonia”, where they participate Jordi Sanchez Navarro, Desiree of Fez i Jaume Balagueró. All of this is part of the action to recover cinematographic heritage that the Catalan Film Academy promotes annually, curated on this occasion by researcher and programmer Jordi Sánchez Navarro.
Terror has no form or age.Catalan cinema will continue to be the protagonist of Saturday afternoon with the now traditional Ç-Trencada session, a competitive showcase of Catalan-produced short films, including several premieres, one of them world premieres, and new films by directors known at the festival such as Cris Gambín, Toni Pinel, Daniel Noblom and Ian Garrucho. Later, it will be the turn of the Official Section shorts, sessions that have practically sold out, and on Sunday morning, the short format will continue with the TerrorKids section, dedicated to children and accompanied by various workshops and activities. On Sunday afternoon, La Peni will once again be filled to capacity to host a triple program with the celebrated Azrael, by EL Katz, The substance, by Coralie Fargeat, a session that has already sold out, and V/H/S/Beyond, a new installment in the saga of horror short films that this time delves into the realm of science fiction.
