An immersion into Japanese video game horror. We will analyze how key titles such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Fatal Frame transcend jumpscare to build a deep, slow and culturally specific psychological horror. Since its origins, Japanese video games have remixed influences from both American and European horror cinema and J-Horror (Japanese horror), always providing original creative twists. In this talk, we will explore the influence of Japanese folklore (Onryō, vengeful ghosts) and the design techniques that turn helplessness and oppressive atmosphere into the main engine of gameplay. Discover why Japanese horror is the king of playable anxiety. A talk given by Víctor Navarro Remesal, PhD in Communication, specialized in Game Studies. He works at TecnoCampus, Pompeu Fabra University. This talk is given in Spanish. With the collaboration of Fundación Japón Madrid.
