Rita

Rita is a teenager who, fleeing a nightmare past, is taken in to a juvenile detention center where different groups of fantastic beings live together. Despite the initial difficulties in fitting into this new environment, Rita will end up being part of a peculiar ecosystem full of dark secrets, unexpected brotherhoods and perverse gears. The film by Guatemalan director Jayro Bustamante finally arrives on the screens of TerrorMolins, after the “non-screening” of La llorona due to covid-19, with the premiere in the country of a true story turned into a horror film. A fairy tale based on the tragedy of the ’Hogar Seguro Virgen de la Asunción” and passed through the very personal sieve of the Central American filmmaker who stirred the audience of the Fantasia festival.
