Gènere al Gènere Talks 2022

The Gènere al Gènere project grows in terms of impact and quantity of activities and is becoming more important in its transversal presence at the Festival. This edition offers both talks from the industry’s perspective and lectures framed within its educational strategic line.

November 2 at 7 p.m. Round table. Online. Free
The Round table “The Leap from Short to Feature: Breaking the Glass Ceiling” will be held virtually, with two of the cinematographic industry’s professionals: Mireia Noguera and Ainhoa Menéndez Goyoaga. We will talk about the challenges that female directors have to face when going from short to feature films.

Mireia Noguera (director and screenwriter) has directed the award-winning short films «Centrifugado» and «Nunca te dejé sola», both having featured in our festival and the second one being the winner of a Méliès D’Argent for Best European Short Film.

Ainhoa Menéndez (director, screenwriter and actress) has hundreds of selections with her trilogy of short films «Dark Tales». She is also a Berlinale Talent Alumni and was awarded the Woman in action prize by Movistar+.

November 7. Lectures for the 3rd and 4th ESO students
From the educational standpoint we will have Mireia Iniesta Navarro, feminist cinema reviewer and teacher, as the presenter of two educational talks that will be aimed at an audience of 14 to 16 years old which will be held in the school itself. These lectures will be carried out with practical examples on how cinema (and horror cinema specifically) and TV series portray and/or fight against gender stereotypes, with particular focus to the present.

Moreover, the festival will have informative and support purple points, whose entire team has undergone official training in response protocol and assistance in case of any incident or need for any kind of counselling.

Gènere al gènere is a transversal project for the whole festival which manages its visibility strategies and activities; and carries out analysis in terms of gender perspective, inclusive vision, and promotion of diversity within the audiovisual sector.
