The Acció>Cinema program at TerrorMolins

Acció>Cinema is an initiative launched by the film festival coordinator Catalunya Film Festivals (CFF), in collaboration with the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture, which promotes audiovisuals “as a tool for building an educated, critical and mobilized citizenry”.

The Molins Horror Film Festival (TerrorMolins) participates in the Acció>Cinema program (2021-2022) by scheduling two activities:

Film workshop for children (+8 years): “My first horror scene”, by Quim Crusellas, audiovisual director. The purpose of the film workshop for children is that the kids who participate create and shoot a scene featuring some of the archetypal elements of horror cinema. This workshop aims to reflect on the right to peace and the prevention of violence among children, as well as to introduce them to cinematographic creation and audiovisual language. It also promotes the right to a conscious, educated, critical, committed and mobilized citizenry: education for development through cinema.

The session will include the participation of Enreda’t, a local association whose goal is to promote activities that improve the lives of people with disabilities and their families.

  • Saturday, November 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Biblioteca El Molí | Free activity with previous inscription (limited places): www.bibliotecaelmoli.cat

Talk (+14 years): Terrifying stereotypes: an approach to gender representation through horror, by Mireia Iniesta, film teacher. An educative talk that analyses and explains how cinema, and more specifically, horror cinema can change society’s gender stereotypes. Through a historical approach, but also with an emphasis on actual examples taken from cinema and TV shows.

The purpose of this talk is to reflect on Women’s rights: Life free from violence, and sexual and reproductive rights, and to think about the power of images and the need to educate our gaze as spectators. And so, it also promotes the right to a conscious, educated, critical, committed and mobilized citizenry: education for development through cinema.

During the session, the SIAD-Women’s Information and Attention Service, promoted by the Councillor for Feminism and LGBTI of the Molins de Rei City Council, will be presented.

  • Wednesday, November 9, 2022. From 10 to 11 a.m. | La Peni theatre | Free activity, with previous reservation (limited seating): educacio@molinsfilmfestival.com
